Senior Technical Artist or Lead Technical Artist

Nintendo is looking to hire a Technical Artist. This is a senior level position. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of game industry experience and has contributed to the production of at least two released game titles. This person should possess a thorough knowledge of console development; hands-on experience with Nintendo development kits is an advantage. The Technical artist’s role may range from design of skeletal rigs to developing scripted tools and workflow enhancements. The selected candidate will be working with artists and programmers to develop solutions that increase production efficiency. A strong understanding of art production workflows including animation, modeling, texturing, particle effects, and material blending techniques (shaders) is required as well as possessing a strong background in art production.

Description of Duties

  • Collaborate with a team of animators, artists, and programmers to develop and implement new solutions for improved workflow
  • Reviews all assets during integration for potential errors, addressing those found, and teach artists correct construction methods
  • Creates and maintains animation rigs for game characters and objects
  • Search for more efficient methods to improve quality and speed in asset creation
  • Provide artists with scripted tools that aid them in asset production
  • Keep up-to-date with the rules and restrictions of the game engine

Summary of Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of Maya
  • Strong proficiency developing tools in MEL and Python (C# and C++ a bonus)
  • High proficiency in technical problem solving
  • 5+ years of game development experience with multiple shipped titles
  • Proven proficiency with advanced rigging techniques and game art production.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs of a project.
  • Must be able to work well in a team setting.
