Animator, just moved to Vancouver from Australia, looking for work :)

Hi guys,

I’ve just moved to Vancouver from Canberra, Australia and I’m looking for work in film or games. I have 5 years experience primarily animating for TV commercials and documentaries.

If anyone could please offer me some advice (or even a job!) that would be great.

You can check out my website and reel here: http://www.drewkanimation.com

Thanks!
Drew K.

Oops, forgot to post a direct link to my reel:

Hey Drew,
Welcome to Raincouver! (where’d the sun go? :’( )
Your site is down for me, but the reel looks pretty good! I might rearrange it a bit to have the boy with dog, and the underwater shots at the front, but that’s really about it.

Good luck with the job hunt! I know a lot of studios are ramping up in a couple months here

Hey dgovil, thanks for the reply and the reel advice!

Do you know which studios are hiring in the next couple of months? I’d be happy with any kind of work at the moment, even if it’s junior. I’m just keen to get back into it and start learning again

Thanks again,
Drew K.

Sony are ramping up, as are MPC and Prime Focus, but thats from august till middle next year. Digital domain should hire in August and Image Engine told me end of this year. But I guess it doesn’t hurt to apply everywhere.

Look at cgstudiomap.com for a good idea of whats around. A little outdated and not complete but pretty good.

Thanks, I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what comes up :sigh:

Basic Inquiry is a life drawing studio that has a lot of industry people (animation/Concept artists) on their short pose days. You may find some connections there too:

Good luck…

Thanks for the advice Jason, I’ll check it out.
