[Maya] Stable automated knee / polevector tutorial

I have seen a few automated knee / polevector solutions before, some are pretty decent, but most of them have some minor shortcomings. I have used a solution for several years now, which to me have been quite obvious. I have however never seen anyone else use it.

Below is a video tutorial I made to show my solution and I would like some feedback on it. It relies solely on hierarchies and aim constraints. Has anyone else done this setup before? Any similar approach? What benefits / disadvantages do you see using it?
