Ribbon using maya api

Hello Everyone , I wanna write a node that creates a ribbon setup using maya api , so was thinking if someone could help me with some useful resource on how to should i approach . Kind of new to this stuff to not sure what would be the best approach …

Are you sure you want to make a node, and not just a MEL/Python script? As in, a single node (or just a few) which connects to a joint chain the way an IK setup would?
