Keyboard Recomendations

Hi all, I am looking to purchase a new keyboard to replace my current one as most of the letters have worn off.

Not really fussed about multimedia or gaming functions, it will mostly be used for 3d work, programming and word processing of course.

One thing I would like is one with a build in wrist rest, as I find its a pain to get a seperate one that fits correctly.

Wired is prefered simply due to fact I dont need wireless so it would be wasted.

Just wondering if anyone has any recomendations of what to get?

Many thanks.

Tom.

I couldn’t live without my Microsoft Natural 4000. I have stockpiled about 5 just in-case they stop making them…

In my opinion there are only two keyboards worth mentioning.
None of them have a wrist rest though…

#1 Logitech UltraX Premium

#2 Keytronic Ergoforce 2001

I wish I did that with my Microsoft trackball explorer, best trackball out there and they stopped making them.

I do have a natural 4000, the space bar gets on my nerves though lol, I find I have to really press it to get it to work, and has to be pressed with your thumb, which I suppose is the correct way to do it.

I’ve actually been interested to know this. I recently setup a new workstation for myself and couldn’t for the life of me find a keyboard that I liked. Will definitely have to check out Eiktyrner’s #1.

I grew up on a natural keyboard but I don’t know how easy it would be to transfer back after coding on a flat keyboard the last 4 years…

not great for a general keyboard, but awsome for maya and such when modeling. Takes some set up though.

Right now i am using Logitech Multi media. It is very nice Keyboard. Keys are very smoth. Design is nice. I recommend you Logitech brand. It is also well known brand.

Logitech also makes a G15 and G19 keyboard which is also a premium quality keyboard but has programmable macro ‘G’ keys. I have a number of them on my G19 set to such things as ctrl-z, ctrl-c and ctrl-v that I use frequently, much easier on my hand than the two left hand finger gestures otherwise required.

They call it a gaming keyboard and it is pricey, but lasts a long time and is quite useful for the macro capability for apps like Maya.
