RND Pipeline Technical Director - London Based

Axis Animation seeks an exceptional Pipeline TD to join our Research and Development team on an ongoing basis, working on-site in London. As part of the Research and Development team, you will help support our London Office and will also collaborate with the Developers based in Glasgow to design, develop and maintain artist tools, core applications and services, contributing directly to the success of our projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Work cross-site with Artists, Leads and Heads of Departments to identify production needs
Research techniques and develop pipeline tools and processes to meet those needs
Ensure tools and processes meet the global pipeline framework and tracking systems
Test and debug tools and process to ensure stability and usability
Act as a liaison for communicating technical issues to Production, R&D and IT
Educate artists and other TDs on how to work with the pipeline
Create and update documentation explaining our processes and tools
Work with and develop tools for production tracking software and databases

Help manage code repositories, perform code reviews and maintain coding standards

REQUIREMENTS

3+ years of experience in animation or visual effects for film or television
3+ years of experience developing for Maya, Nuke or Houdini is required

Experience developing for Shotgun, FTrack or other production tracking software
Working knowledge of Shotgun, FTrack or other production tracking Python API
Strong experience in Python
Excellent communication, troubleshooting and debugging skills
Ability to work independently and remotely as part of a team
Be proactive
Be adaptable

STRONGLY PREFERRED
Experience with PyQt / PySide
Experience in Django, Flask or web development
Experience in designing and building database systems
Working knowledge of C++
Experience with render farms is a plus
