Specular reflection

Specular reflection is light that is reflected from a surface that produces a "specular highlight". It a component of direct lighting, diffuse lighting and sub-surface scattering being the others. There are a number of different properties and algorithms of specular lighting, based on the shading model.

Specular reflection is based upon the viewing angle, while reflection in a more general sense is view-independent.
