Introductions

My name is Martin and I’m a 27 year old 3D artist from Sweden.
I’m quite “junior” I guess - I have only 1 year of experience with the game industry. Half of that time from my current job as a 3D artist for Polarbit Games - a developer of middleware and 3D games for mobile platforms. The first half I spent working as a 3D artist (intern) for Avalanche Studios (creators of Just Cause). There I made 3D art assets for their last IP: Renegade Ops.

I registered to this forum mainly because I want to find out if I have what it takes to be a TA. It’s something I consider specializing in.

I am an inspiring techincal artist from new york and have been working on some animated characters which i will soon transform into gaming charcters… well it’s since to be in ur community because it actually gives a place for people like us to share our thought and ideas… I am sure I will enjoy my stay here.

Howdy all. My name is Melissa and I actually joined the forums a little over a year ago, just never got around to actually introducing myself. I’m a Technical Artist at Petroglyph Games in Las Vegas, and though this is my 3rd gig its actually the only solid experience I’ve gotten so far as a TA. I’ve been able to expand more into scripting and making some art tools for my fellow artists, but I hope to do so even more. I’ll probably be poking around the forums more often now as well, thanks in advance for all the knowledge already available by this community and I hope to make some contributions in the future. :):

Welcome Melissa! Thanks for the introduction!

I haven’t formally introduced myself either. I am a Character TD/Technical Artist. I recently finished my MFA at the Academy of Art University. I interned last year at THQ/Volition and freelanced at a few VFX studios. I am currently job seeking but working on new material so I am constantly learning. This place is a wealth of information and its good to see fellow TA’s supporting each other here. Thanks for hosting a place for us to share!

Hey there. My name’s Valentine, and I’m working as a technical artist at Rare, here in cloudy UK. I’m pretty much a newcomer to the industry - I’ve graduated last summer (from a philosophy degree, no less) though I have over two years of working on a couple of indie titles as both a programmer and an artist in parallel to that. It’s been a great experience working for a triple A developer and getting to grips with this position. You’re doing something exciting and new every day - it feels like a job made exactly for me. Couldn’t imagine doing anything else, I don’t think

Welcome new members! Glad to have you all.

Hello! My name is Isabella, I have been using this site for a long time though I have just signed up for the forums. I am currently a student at USC studying Computer Science (hoping to get a job soon :P) but I am incredibly interested in tech art and I am teaching myself a couple areas. I have learned a lot from this site and will surely continue doing so, and hopefully meet new people! :):

Thanks!

Hey everyone! My name’s Steve and am currently a Game Design student at Savannah College of Art and Design. Why am I on here you say? It’s because my specialization is Visual Effects and Shaders Programming! Well, at least that’s what I’m going for. My background is actually in Engineering Physics and Software Engineering. I’m mainly teaching myself everything real-time Visual Effects since no real-time courses are offered in the program here at SCAD. See you all around!

hi dear… you have got what you have desired and now is the time to prove yourself in front of the world by giving them best optimal solution though virtual technologies…

Welcome! Both of you.

Shadowist, you have choosen the noblest of professions. If you need any help, this is the forum to ask.

Hi There!

My name is Harry Boltz, and I’m a post grad of Champlain College in Vermont, but now I’m in Montreal interning with “Ubisoft Academia” which is student-intern-sub-section-affiliated-thing of Ubi Montreal.
At school I learned animation, rigging, and python scripting for tool development for Maya and Max, and I’m ready to take it to the next level now that I’m out and learn even more.

Really excited to be here, and hoping to learn some cool stuff!

Hi all!

I’m new to coding, currently learning JavaScript, so far it’s fun and challenging, but any tips or help anyone has is much appreciated. One of my friends, who I’m learning to code with, Remi Crespo is already on here and he suggested I start up here. I’m here to try my best, so hopefully I can understand coding much better. Also, if anyone has any suggestions of what can be done with JavaScript once you learn it, I’m all ears. I’m learning it because I know it’s useful, I’d just like to see what my options are with it. Thanks!

cheers!

Hello, I am Rico and I am a Rigger TD / VFX generalist. I find it difficult sometimes to introduce myself specially to potential employers since I really am a true generalist. I have been working since 1999 in the CG industry but I fill out many roles in production but I have been specialising in the technical stuff since 2005. I use both Max and Maya but I am now starting to learn Houdini.
I am currently based in Tokyo for a few years now but I operate throughout east Asia and SE Asia in general. I hope that I can make good e-buddies here and I wish to contribute to this community as well if I can, however it may be in the form of advise or whatever.

Hi Rico, Safron, Kate, and everyone else here on tech artist.org. My name is Jeremy finally graduated from college (now I have to worries about student loans T.T) and I am happy to be here. I was the technical artist for my senior capstone game even though I had never fully though of my self as one. I did the work and had to learn a lot on the fly and I found the work very rewarding. Now I am pursuing a carrier in it. I hope to make a lot of new friend learn some new thing and share what I know.

I think I am going to like it here.

Have a nice day all

-Jeremy

I’m Kieran, I’m a Character TD at Ubisoft Montreal. Most recently I worked on Far Cry 3, I oversaw facial animation and character art technical direction, and I also did most of the facial rigging and some facial animation.
I’ve been signed up to the forum forever but it looks like I’ve never posted. Terrible! I guess I should contribute a bit, instead of just browsing when I have a bug I’m trying to fix.

Welcome all the newbies here…i am also a new guy out here and just registered a while back. I hope the stay here is gonna be an exciting and knowledgeful here.

I’m from sylhet. I need all of your help also I have capablility ti help you.

Hello!

My name is Etihaas Shrestha. I am from Nepal.. Currently I am studying in grade 12 at United academy. I am studying Humanities. My aim is to be a social worker and a good politician too.. :):

Hello!

I’m a bit of a jack of all trades, having done contract work as an artist and designer as well as coded for mobile applications and indie games. I’ve made a bunch of rigs and rigging tools, and written a solid amount of shaders for Unity and UDK. My favorite things are shaders, lighting and environment art. I went back to school and am graduating in December with a bachelor’s in Digital Art and Design for Videogames from the Centre NAD in Montreal, and I intend to pursue a career as a technical artists, because it’s awesome!
