Above.Land

Above.Land is an AAA open world MMO ARPG. Set in a magical world above the clouds, humans and mythological creatures attempt to find a way to co-exist. Who are we looking for?

Ape² is on the lookout for a talented, jack-of-all-trades Technical Artist who possesses a passion for championing optimal performance and efficiency in visual assets as well as working to solve any art-related bugs or hitches that may arise during our game production. This is a full-time permanent position with the possibility of working remote. As a key member of our Art & Cinematics team, you will be acting as a bridge between the art and engineering teams. You will facilitate seamless asset integration in Unreal Engine (UE) and support with technical guidance. You will be assisting animators with implementing rigged characters in UE, creating tools to help streamline the artists’ workflow and more! Our ideal candidate is a great communicator, team player, and proactive problem solver. You are a contributor of ideas, overseer of pipelines, and collaborator across discipline lines providing recognized expertise. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other core team members to develop the overall vision and determine technical feasibility

  • Identify and analyze risks (engine, data, features, etc.)

  • Assess existing tools and occasionally design custom ones to support art pipelines and workflows to sustain the project vision

  • Set up and maintain frameworks to allow creative freedom while hitting quality and performance requirements set up by the engineering team

  • Meet with Art Director, Technical Art Lead and Director of Production on a regular basis to share information and updates, enforce standards, set benchmarks, give feedback, etc.

  • Resolve specific, complex, escalated issues and approve technical specifications

  • Represent the art team in technical discussions and requirements meetings

  • Write documentation, tutorials/training videos and provide training to the Art, Design and Engineering departments

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as a Technical Artist, ideally in the video game industry

  • Shipped at least one console or PC title

  • Strong knowledge / hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 4.x and 5.x., UnrealGameSync (UGS) and Visual Scripting (Blueprints)

  • Advanced knowledge of Blender, 3DSMax, Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush and Substance Designer

  • Strong knowledge of modern 3D graphics techniques

  • Experience writing and modifying shaders

  • Experience with version control softwares such as Perforce or Git

  • Solid understanding of creative and game development processes

  • High proficiency in technical problem solving

  • Open-minded team player attitude

  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated
