@il_berna: So, it seems that remote work is fine (prime minister live speech was a little ambiguos).
Every non critical business activity must stop or make all work from remote. All shops closed except groceries,supermarkets,pharmacies,newsstands,banks and post offices.
Our specific problem is that our approaching deadline requires use of devkits that we must try to recover from office today.
Following deadlines are worse because we need our P4 repo and we must do a huge stream merge… Unfortunately we don’t have a remote p4 server, so we don’t know how to quickly find a way to carry on working on the project
Any idea about how to setup something for UE4 online repo is more than welcome:smile:
@instinct-vfx: This is something currently being worked on here as we need to move to a distributed p4 setup. Basically we will have a master repository hosted in mothership infrastructure (available online or through VPN depending on the setup).
Then we have edge servers in the offices to get performance up and reduce remote transfers
You can probably skip the latter for wfh
@il_berna: yeah…our problem is that our server is not visible on the Internet…it’s on our LAN only
@instinct-vfx: Would your line be able to handle being visible?
@il_berna: maybe we could try some cloud based solution
not sure
but I’m afraid not now
@instinct-vfx: assembla offers hosted perforce i think

@il_berna: mmmh interesting…definitely worth a look, thanks
@instinct-vfx: Gotta go back to the kids. Will be online longer tonight.
Stay safe everyone
@Florian: Good Morning everyone.
found this little adictive game. Might help if you need to kill time.

@bob.w: oh god, the paperclips… I’ve beaten that a few times but now I foresee being sucked in again
@il_berna assembla does a pretty decent job of pre-setup cloud perforce. You should also be able to setup something on digital ocean, (I think @theodox has some referral codes, so that you can help with the forum hosting at the same time).
Also I know AWS used to have some method of rapidly spinning up a P4 server but its been years.
@il_berna: Thanks @bob.w
@Jeff_Hanna: If anyone has State of Decay 2 (Juggernaut Edition) or Satisfactory let me know and I’ll spin up a multiplayer game.
Or anything else. Maybe we get a squad together in the new (free) Call of Duty: Warzone battle-royale
@passerby: The P4 on assembla works but I find it’s limited as far as features and configuration. Assembla does alot of things in my opinion but is only ok at each piece. If all you want is P4 I would just set it up manually on digitalocean
@dhruv: I would also recommend digital ocean. You can build it up quick and tear it down when you’re done easily.
This is an old but good guide

Allar’s Blog: Setting up version control (Perforce) for Unreal Engine 4 using DigitalOcean and Ubuntu (Part 1)
Or depending how many users you have, you could pay for a year of hosted perforce from perforce directly
@passerby: iirc you do not pay for snapshots you are storing as well
So easy to tear down when not in use, but keep the setup
@dhruv: > Snapshots are charged at $0.05/GiB per month. Pricing is based on the size of the snapshot, not the size of the filesystem being saved. There is no additional charge for making a snapshot available in multiple regions.
@theodox: We’ve had good luck with DO backing the forums, it’s pretty user friendly and offers a lot of configuration options
A big merge is probably something that’s going to take time for finish via rdp, so maybe that buys some time for Daniele’s crew to get a backup in place.
