How was the Morpheme-Unreal workflow like?

I’ve been looking in to reverse engineering animations that were loaded in to the Morpheme engine from Unreal Engine 3. I still have gaps in my knowledge of what Morpheme as a software/extension/plugin existed back in the day, I have morphemeconnect, but how did the files get from here in to Unreal? how did the files get from Unreal to the Morpheme engine? was there an Unreal extension/plugin?
