Hey my name Carlo Cherisier,I’m a student at Full Sail, studying how to become a Setup Artist. I’m approaching my Finals month now and I’m having a real hard time trying to find models. I have look at plenty of websites that sell models but since they don’t show edge flow I rather not waste money in a bad model or a Z-brush model. So I was wondering if anyone had any models (Bipeds, Quads, Toons, anything) that they were willing to donate show that I could put on my reel, or if they knew of any modelers that were willing to give there stuff out. I would give credit to who ever model it was and give them the rig to use. So any help would really appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Hi Carlo,
It’s good to see a fellow Full Sail lowlife gracing these boards. =)
I’d recommend asking the better modelers in your class, or the classes that are a month or two ahead of you. If you hang out in the labs you’ll find the modeling rock-stars pretty quickly.
Alternatively, I remember some great models available from ZooRender - free to use for setup reels and the like, as long as you gave them credit.
If that doesn’t help, ask Ken Norman - he knows everybody down there. Tell him Alex Hogan sent you!
I’ll hit up a friend or two I know - they might be willing to share their goodness, although I can’t make any promises - they are all professionals, and might not want their work used by anyone for anything - give me an email later and I can follow-up with you (I lose track of forum threads) – alex at alexhogan dot com.

Try Polycount.com - post in the tech talk messageboards, or scan the P&P boards and find something you like then ask to use it.
3D world magazine often supplies free models and textures on their cover DVD.
You could also try:
http://www.the3dstudio.com
http://www.turbosquid.com
It’s also worth noting that this is a tech-artists forum, which may not have as many ‘pure’ modellers visiting so you could also try asking at cgtalk, or polycount as mentioned before.

Hey Alex,
Thank for advice, I definitely will check out ZooRender and see what they have. I have asked every body from DRC to ANP and I’m always at the labs cause I’m a lab monitor but there has been a lack of modelers lately either people now want to be Animators or Compositors. And the modeler I have found make Z-Brush models that are just so dense and can’t be rigged. I will let Ken know you said hey. Thank you again for helping me out.
Aright I’ll give those sites a shot, but I just wanted to at least see the edge flow first cause they get on the expensive pretty quick. I was trying CGTalk but it was giving me issues with starting a thread, but I’ll keep trying. Thanks for the help guys.
